NOTE: We advise everyone to wait to activate their cards as we work to improve the experience and update our contracts to allow cards to be activated individually. Individual activation will allow you to only pay activation fees on the cards you want to trade.
What is activation?
When you purchase a pack, randomness is generated to determine your cards. Cards aren't actually created during this process, only the randomness which is then stored on the blockchain.
Activation is a process which turns that randomness into fully tradable "non fungible" tokens. We created an activation step because creating a token requires lots of gas, and so at peak hours when gas prices are high, it can result in players being charged high fees by the network. Activation allows someone to wait until gas prices are low to create these tokens, saving them from "surge pricing" transactions.
Activation of a card an be done at any time in the future, and it is not necessary to activate a card in order to play with it. The only reason you'll ever need to activate a card is if you want to trade or transfer it to another address.
We advise everyone to wait to activate their cards as we work to improve the experience and update our contracts to allow cards to be activated individually. Individual activation will allow you to only pay activation fees on the cards you want to trade.
If you've purchased packs and still wish to activate them now, you can do so at:
Please note: activating your cards does not make them immediately tradable. You still must wait until the balancing period ends before you can transfer them to another address (after the beta for genesis cards).
Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren't my cards showing up in my wallet?
If your cards are not activated, there is a good chance they won't show up in your wallet (depending on which one you use) as the cards aren't ERC721 tokens yet. If you activate them and the cards still don't appear, it's likely because the wallet you are using does not yet support this token type.
I've tried activating but now all I see is a blue spinner.
You likely have a stuck transaction waiting to confirm. To remedy this, you'll need to bump the gas price up on old transactions. Click here for more details.
